This episode was a continuation of the 200th episode and definitely a treat for those who have been following ‘South Park’ for the past 14 years. There were a myriad of references to several famous episodes and while the ending could have been better (I would have tried to incorporate Imaginationland), the two-parter was satisfying overall.

In fact, thinking more about it, certain aspects of the show’s history were conspicuously absent. But like Tom Cruise avoiding the press, they only had less than an hour to cram in as much as they could.

There is the question of the censorship of both the image and name of Muhammad and whether or not the extremely censored ending was intentional on the part of the creators or yet another case of network interference.

The censorship got worse. Not only did they not show the image of Muhammad … they couldn’t even say his name! It had to be bleeped out. They even bleeped out the entire final “lesson” of the episode. WTF? Were Trey Parker and Matt Stone trying to make a point or was it just a case of screwing with the minds of everyone? Will the DVD have the uncensored version? It’s one of those controversial ‘Sopranos’-style endings that will keep people talking.

The lesson of the episode, had it not been completely censored, was that nothing should be free from criticism. It’s unfortunate that Comedy Central could not apply that lesson. I’m assuming it was network interference that was responsible for all the bleeping. I hope I’m wrong.

Do you think the Christian community will be up in arms about Jesus being shown surfing for Internet porn?

It was nice to see a lot of old faces. Pip became irrelevant after his role was pretty much usurped by Butters, so his death is long overdue. Plus, to have some impact in this anniversary two-parter, someone had to die.

The more I think about it, the more the revelation of Cartman’s father seemed irrelevant. It was unnecessary to pursue that mystery as the audience really didn’t need an answer (although the answer did somewhat go along with Cartman’s dream sequence from ‘The City on the Edge of Forever’). However, as an excuse for the return of Scott Tenorman (taking on the persona of The Joker), it was brilliant. Whomever planned that sequence must have read the graphic novel ‘The Killing Joke.’ And points to me for being enough of a comics nerd to get the reference.

The Super Best Friends Power Cycles were Segways. Pure genius.

Some highlights of great quotes are: “Sorry is just another four-letter word with a ‘y’ on the end.” “Tom Cruise has Seaman on his back.” “Swallow, come.”

The 200th and 201st episodes were a great celebration of the history and cultural impact of ‘South Park.’ It was nice to see Mephisto and Kevin again. And Raisins. And the Country Kitchen Buffet. And Tweek’s Coffee. And the Casa Bonita. And Raisins. And Willzyx. And Santa. And Mr. Hankey. Still, they missed a lot of history: Wendy Testaburger, Imaginationland, Satan.

Matt and Trey Respond to Censored ‘South Park’

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Comedy Central is not taking a risk of them getting killed by a radical Muslim group so they censored the “South Park” bit which was deemed an insult to the religion’s Prophet Muhammad. Two recent episodes of the satirical animation featured the holy figure in bear costume which Revolution Muslim took as an insult. The group quickly responded with a message on their official website.

The post, written by Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee, said, “We have to warn [creators] Matt [Stone] and Trey [Parker] that what they are doing is stupid, and they will probably wind up like Theo van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.” van Gogh is a Dutch film maker who was killed by an Islamic extremist in 2004.

Matt and Trey’s defense was, “It wasn’t some meta-joke on our part.” The duo who is known for working last minutes to gather an episode, wanted to celebrate the show’s 200th episode with every significant characters including Tom Cruise, Barbra Streisand, Jesus, Buddha and Moses. But they had difficulty in bringing the character of Islamic leader so they put him in a bear costume.

Although a member of Revolution Muslim said their posting was a prediction rather than a threat, Comedy Central preferred to play it safe. About 35 seconds of dialog between the cartoon characters of Kyle, Jesus Christ and Santa Claus was bleeped out in the Wednesday, April 21 episode.

Matt and Trey have commented on the censorship, writing on their official site, “Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle’s customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn’t mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We’ll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we’ll see what happens to it.”

There are very minor spoilers in the following paragraphs. You have been warned.

For those who watched this past week’s episode of ‘South Park’ titled ’200,’ you know that the episode ended on a cliffhanger. However, there was no indicator that it would be continued into the next episode as the words “to be continued” nor scenes from next week nor any indicator were anywhere to be found. It would be just like Trey Parker and Matt Stone to pull a prank like this (such as the ‘Not Without My Anus’ gag in the first season).

The good news is that the story most definitely will continue this week in an episode titled “201,” which makes sense since it’s the 201st episode. Ain’t It Cool posted some information about the episode in “inviso-text.” Feel free to hightlight the text and get a clue about what’s going to happen, unless of course you’re spoiler-phobic.

Of course, this could all be another massive prank by the creators. Find out on Wednesday.

Most Outrageous ‘South Park’ Moment: Buddha Snorts Coke

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Even with forewarning that last night’s South Park would dredge up every celebrity the show had ever bashed, the 200th episode managed to pack in more call-backs and shock value than we imagined.

Parker and Stone couldn’t resist reviving their biggest controversy to date: the appearance of the Prophet Muhammad, whom Stan innocently met back in Season 5 when he required the help of Jesus and his “Super Best Friends.” Back in 2006, another attempt to show Muhammad was deemed “too sensitive” by Comedy Central. But it’s not like the South Park creators, or the boys, to let something like that go.

In this clip, our most outrageous South Park moment of the week, Kyle and Stan revisit the Super Best Friends to try to get Muhammad to come to South Park, because Tom Cruise demands to meet the Prophet so he can steal his “impervious to being made fun of” goo.

But that’s not our favorite part. (The headline and photo should have tipped you off to what was.)

Watch the moment that had us snorting ... with laughter:

The boys are all hooked on Facebook and Farmville, except for Stan, who still doesn’t have an account… until the guys decide to surprise him with one.  Soon Stan’s father, grandmother, and Wendy all make him befriend them and their respective friends.  When Stan can’t handle everyone’s constant demands of him to friend them or comment on their statuses, he goes to delete his profile and gets sucked into a Tron-like Facebook world inside the computer.  Inside, eventually he must defeat his own “profile” (kind of like an avatar in the system) in a game of Yahtzee in order to get rid of his account.

Meanwhile, Kyle befriends Kip Drordy, a nerdy kid with 0 Facebook friends.  Soon Kip begins to think of Kyle like his real world friend, literally taking his laptop with Kyle’s profile with him to the movies.  Eventually, when other kids learn Kyle is friends with Kip, a kid with low friend stock, they all remove him until his only friend is Kip.  Kyle goes to Cartman, who hosts a blog, Mad Friends (a parody of Mad Money), and he tries to help him make new friends via Chat Roulette.  However, it turns out Kyle cannot keep or make new friends until he deletes Kip as a friend.

Everything turns out okay when Stan ends up sending all his friends to Kip after defeating his profile.

South Park” would not miss the chance to mock on Tiger Woods and his press conference to confirm that he had performed infidelity in the past. The married golfer is animated in the Comedy Central series and the character said he’s entitled to enjoy the temptation that comes with being a successful celebrity. Cartman is seen behind him throughout.

The Tiger Woods episode will be the opening of the 14th season which begins Wednesday, March 17. “It’s such an important issue in America right now – the sex addiction outbreak,” creator Matt Stone told the AP on Friday, March 12. “We’re all really concerned about him and hope he gets better.”

Stone, who worked on the show with Trey Parker, said that they could make an entire season out of Woods’ story. “There’s a delicacy in talking about (Woods) that we don’t have to worry about,” Stone said.

Tiger Woods made a statement before selected audience at TPC Sawgrass, home of the PGA Tour, on February 19 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He admitted to cheating on wife Elin Nordegren and asked for privacy during the difficult time. Stone said he was both fascinated and disgusted by Woods’ public apology, but would not reveal how they will translate it on the episode.

Best of South Park Season 2 Quotes

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

After ending season one of South Park with a cliffhanger, Matt Stone and Trey Parker decides to give us a lovely April Fool’s season two premiere about a completely unrelated Terrance and Phillip adventure.

Don’t worry, by episode two, they wrapped up the mystery of who Cartman’s father was. Spoiler alert: it was Cartman’s mom, she’s a hermaphrodite.

From there, season two went on to give us such wonderful things as Cartman as a cop (“respect my authority!”), the conjoined fetus nurse, Chef’s chocolate salty balls, and the infamous “Chef Aid.”

If you haven’t caught on by now, we’re going to end this post with our hand-picked best of season two South Park quotes, so enjoy:

Jimbo: Well, looks like we’re not going anywhere for a long time.
Director: We’re snowed in?
Mayor: Yes! We’re trapped!
Mr. Garrison: Like sailors on a submarine…
Mayor: My god, this is the worst storm I have ever seen!
Director’s Assistant: Oh, I have to get out of here; I haven’t eaten since breakfast.
Officer Barbrady: Yeah, I’m getting kind of hungry, too!
Jimbo: I hope you all don’t realize what we’re facing here… Our only option might be to…eat each other to stay alive.

Cartman: Ey! I am a cop, and you will respect my authoritah!

Cartman: Dude, that is not cool! Chopping off wee-wees is not cool!

Jesus: In our competition for ratings, we all lost sight of why we got into showbusiness in the first place.
Ned: Yeah. Titties and beer.
Jesus: Actually, I was referring more to the pursuit of truth…

Ned: Are fireworks legal in Mexico?
Jimbo: Hell, everything’s legal in Mexico. It’s the American way.

Cartman: I love your chocolate salty balls, Chef!

Mr. Garrison: And, so, children, that’s how you tell a prostitute from a police officer. Now, are there any questions? Yes, Kyle?
Kyle: What the hell does that have to do with American history?
Mr. Garrision: Good question, Kyle. Are there any other questions?
Kyle: Mr. Garrison, I’m the only one here. Everyone else has chicken herpes.

Mr. Garrison: A haiku is just like a normal American poem except it doesn’t rhyme and it’s totally stupid.

Sharon: Stanley look who’s here, Aunt Flo.
Aunt Flo: Hello Stanley, remember me?
Stan: Hi Aunt Flo.
Sharon: Now Stanley, Aunt Flo only visits once a month. Be nice.

Charles Manson: Come on, I’ll hotwire your grandpa’s car.
Stan: Do you really think we should go with this guy?
Cartman: Stan, don’t be such a dumbass, you have to trust people.

Kyle: Do you ever think maybe you shouldn’t give your son coffee?
Mrs. Tweek: Why would you say that?
Kyle: Well, look at him. He’s always shaky and nervous.
Mrs. Tweek: Oh, that. He has A.D.D., attention defecit disorder. That’s why he’s so jittery all the time.

News Presenter: The prehistoric ice man is thought to be from the late Neo-Post-Jurassic era, where he was probably part of a hunting and gathering tribe that lived on Waterson Street.

South Park creators making a Mormon musical

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Some things you just can’t make up. South Park
creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are working with Avenue Q songwriter Robert Lopez to create a new off-Broadway musical. The subject matter is “under wraps”, which means everybody knows what it is. In this case, it’s about the Mormons and likely about the founding of the faith. South Park has already dealt with this topic with a small-scale musical of its own.

When this is finally released, tickets are going to be practically impossible to get. Trey Parker and Matt Stone and a religion-skewering musical are a winning combination. They even already have a song from the Mormon South Park episode called “Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum” (at least that’s what I call it). It wouldn’t be surprising if that catchy tune made it into this musical.

Do you plan on seeing this team’s Mormon musical? Let us know in the comments.

Some of the best episodes of South Park are simple extensions of a single joke. Parker and Stone will present one simple idea and then play it to death usually, when it works, just before it goes so far that it’s annoying. Then there are episodes that deftly mix multiple elements together for a hilarious episode.

The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers” fits into the latter category. It’s not just a fun parody of The Lord of the Rings, it’s also a great treatment of these adolescents boys first experience with pornography. The show puts these elements to great use while also utilizing a lot of peripheral characters in a fun way. The episode, in a lot of ways, serves as a grand tour of South Park.

But, as has happened often since his introduction, Butters steals the show. After accidentally watching the porno movie – he goes insane. Gollum insane. Now he’s after “his precious,” while the other boys are tasked with returning the tape. Meanwhile, the 6th graders, who are a bit more “learned” in what might be on the tape – want it too.

As the plot mirrors the events of Lord of the Rings, it’s fun to watch as other kids join in. Like when they go to Clyde’s house and ask to speak to the “Elf of Feragon” – it takes Clyde a minute and he has to shut the door and return in costume – and in character. There’s a great dichotomy here between the 4th graders and the 6th graders. It’s essentially the difference between kids who are still into dressing up and playing make-believe and the kids who essentially lost interest in doing that when they became interested in watching a porno tape.

There’s also a lot of nice little jabs at the LOTR phenomenon, it’s pretensions and over indulgence – both in terms of the movies and the books (I say this as a huge fan). While at the same time acknowledging the power the series has with its fans. It’s fun to watch the show juggle the stories and hit several targets within one scene.

Trey Parker has said of this episode that it’s “a perfect example, to us, about how much fun the show can be when it’s just kids being kids.” It’s sometimes easy to forget that this is, for the most part, how South Park got started before expanding its character roster and frequently tackling pop culture and other issues as well as the trials of small time adolescence. This is an episode that manages to do just all of that at once, in twenty-two minutes.
