South Park Season 14 Episode 10 Insheeption – Recap

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

South Park Season 14 Episode 10 Insheeption : There are some episodes of ‘South Park’ that seem to come from tangentially related sources to congeal into a cohesive story, some more interesting than others. While this week’s episode wasn’t as entertaining as last week’s (sorry, Jersey haters), it did have more than a few funny moments.

The two inspirations for this week’s episode seemed to be the documentary television show ‘Hoarders’ and the movie ‘Inception.’ It’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie, so I must ask the reader: When Dr. Chinstrap was “providing the background,” was he imitating the music in that film? It certainly sounded like it.

As is often the case with ‘South Park,’ a great deal of the satire wasn’t subtle. Leonardo DiCaprio and his entire heist crew from ‘Inception’ showed up (which wasn’t a leap to make considering the title of the episode). It was a great opportunity for Trey Parker and Matt Stone to point out the silly nature of the movie despite the serious tone it took with itself, which is the sort of thing they do best.

The episode contained a lot of subtle innuendo and references as well. Randy Marsh’s experience was a reference to the old Zhuangzi philosophy of the butterfly dream. With all this satire on dreams, it’s surprising that there was no references to the Red King (unless there was and I missed it). There was also a near-verbatim reference to a CollegeHumor sketch and a reference to the Mark Wahlberg movie ‘Shooter.’

The use of the shepherd seemed unnecessary to the story, unless they were referencing something that escaped me. There are several references to shepherds and dreaming when one does a Google search, but none that seemed to apply.

As a child of the ’70s, I also enjoyed all the references to that decade that were crammed into the episode. Evel Knievel! Lite Brite! Zoom! The fashion of that era still frightens me, and I once wore it. Woodsy Owl also brought back some memories, but not the same sort of memories that Mr. Mackey had. Did anybody else notice that the bully Billy was using Kyle’s voice? I was hoping there was a hidden significance to that.

Of course, only Trey and Matt could point out that the entire shared dream concept was utilized for horror during the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ movies of the ’80s. One visit from Freddy would be enough to make anybody stop hoarding anything.

As mentioned, this wasn’t the strongest effort on the part of the creators, but at the same time it was far from their weakest. It simply felt as if the idea didn’t have enough time to cook and the audience was presented with a half-baked story (or dream, as the case may be). What did you think?

Elin Nordegren apparently kept track of the news about her martial woes. The model who finalized her divorce from Tiger Woods earlier this month due to his numerous affairs said in an interview with People magazine that she had a good laugh at parodies about their relationship.

The former model said the “Saturday Night Live” sketch and “South Park” parody which are debuted as soon as the scandal broke out last year are actually “pretty hysterical”. But she denied that they are based on true facts, saying she never hit her then-husband with a golf club.

Elin was portrayed by Blake Lively while Tiger was played by Kenan Thompson. These fakers held a press conference to address their marriage trouble and ‘Tiger’ ended up with a golf stick over his head and a “help me” note. Meanwhile, in “South Park”, animated Erin and Tiger are pitted against each other in a fighting video game.

Tiger Woods indeed was involved in a car crash the day after his affair with Rachel Uchitel was brought to attention. Some believed the golfer was fresh from fighting with Elin and lost control of the vehicle. Elin allegedly used a golf stick to free Tiger from the wrecked car, which was portrayed otherwise in the sketches.

Shedding truth into the actual incident, Elin said, “The speculation that I would have used a golf club to hit him is just truly ridiculous. Tiger left the house that night, and after a while when he didn’t return, I got worried and decided to look for him. That’s when I found him in the car. I did everything I could to get him out of the locked car. To think anything else is absolutely wrong.”

Man Who Threatened ‘South Park’ Arrested and Questioned

Posted by: admin | Comments Comments Off

Earlier this year “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker received death threats from a guy who resided in Virginia for writing an episode which features Prophet Muhammad in a bear costume. Stone and Park can now at least take a breath of relief for Zachary Chesser has been arrested in charges which actually are not related to the threat.

The 20-year-old who graduated from Oakton High School was detained on Wednesday, July 21 for confessing his links to a terror group believed to have affiliation with al-Qaeda. He publicly told the FBI agents that he tried to travel to Kenya and Somalia to join Al-Shabaab, bringing along his infant son so that he would not be suspected. According to the affidavit, Chesser was barred from the July 10 flight and told by the Transportation Security Administration that he was on the no-fly list.

Chesser, a convert to Islam, in fact has operated websites and YouTube channel which are stocked with jihad propaganda. This includes an April posting that “South Park” creators would “probably end up” dead like Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh who was murdered by Islam extremist in 2004.

This posting also caused trouble for Chesser. His family received death threats which led to his mother kicking him out of her radar. Chesser “was no longer on speaking terms with his parents”, FBI stated.

Originating as (of all things!) a video Christmas card in which Jesus Christ duked it out with Santa Claus, the Comedy Central cartoon series South Park was one of the most outrageous and irreverent adult cable series of the 1990s and beyond — not to mention one of the funniest.

Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the series took place in the tiny, somewhat inbred village of South Park, CO, where there dwelt a quartet of potty-mouthed fourth graders: sensible but nervous Stan Marsh; neurotic and self-flagellating Kyle Broflovski; fat, obnoxious, and thoroughly me-oriented Eric Cartman; and parka-wearing Kenny McCormick, who never spoke above a mumble — and who (during the series’ first five seasons) was invariably killed off in a grisly manner in each episode (“Oh my God! They killed Kenny! You bastards!”). During season six, Kenny was assumed to be permanently dead, and his place in the foursome was taken by prissy Butters, who openly resented being the obligatory “TV series replacement regular.” When Kenny returned in season seven, his “deaths” were far less frequent; reportedly, the producers were sick of figuring out new and unique ways of knocking him off. Though the kids were repulsive, they were none too good for the adults of South Park, who included the whiny, sexually ambivalent schoolteacher Mr. Garrison; Cartman’s pushy, hermaphrodite mother, Liane; Kyle’s loudmouthed, activist mom, Sheila; and the very stupid police chief Barbrady; and “Mrs. Mayor.” The only grownup worth his salt (and pepper) was ex-soul singer “Chef” McElroy (voiced by Isaac Hayes), though his position in South Park as moral authority and the voice of reason was compromised a bit by his overactive libido.

Animated in a deliberately crude, jerky fashion (though brilliantly timed and paced), and featuring characters who resembled kindergarten cutouts, South Park TV Show took pride in butchering every sacred cow and toppling every icon known to conservative and liberal alike. The individual episodes managed to find laughs in such otherwise risky topics as homosexuality, mental and physical handicaps, child molestation, AIDs, anti-Semitism, Alzheimer’s, global warming, and the war in Iraq. By being an “equal opportunity offender,” the series managed to take both sides and no sides in every issue. Also adding to the hilarity were the occasional “guest” appearances by badly drawn (and voiced) celebrities, with Sally Struthers, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Mel Gibson, Saddam Hussein, and especially Barbra Streisand among those mercilessly skewered. In addition, the series poked big holes in its “competition,” the equally raunchy Beavis and Butthead, by introducing a pair of flatulent cartoon Canadians named Terrance and Phillip. Debuting August 13, 1997, and churning out between 13 and 18 episodes per year, South Park was the archetypal “You Either Love It or You Hate It” cartoon show — but the majority of viewers loved it!
