Rebecca loves a challenge.
She immersed herself in a range of energetic sports, specialising in Filipino martial arts which include versions of boxing, kick-boxing and stick fighting. Over the last 20 years the year-old bundle of energy has racked up an amazing number of successes at the highest level, which include five world titles, two European titles and 10 British number ones. On June 24 she will be one of the people chosen to carry the Olympic torch through Huddersfield. She has danced since the age of six and recently competed at the World Irish Dance Championships.
Not content with just personal success, in Rebecca opened the Kane Academy at Perseverance Mills in Lockwood where she trains men and women of all backgrounds in the finer points of martial arts and the self-discipline and respect which accompanies them.
One man who has benefited from her dedication to help others is Will Shaw who has suffered business and marital problems. She is steadfast in promoting respect, community and hard work.
Everything is happening this year, including the Olympics.
